Rydges Capricorn Wins Major Tourist Attraction Award

It was a night of glitz and glamour at this year’s 2007 Capricorn, Gladstone and Bundaberg Zonal Tourism Awards. The awards were held at the 1770 Golf Course and Driving Range, Agnes Water, on Saturday evening 13th October 2007. The Capricorn Coast did exceptionally well with Rydges Capricorn Resort taking home one of the key awards as the winner of the “Major Tourist Attraction”!
“This was an outstanding win for the Resort”, said Rydges Capricorn Resort’s Marketing Manager, Krista White. “We have been working hard towards showcasing the Resort as being more than just an accommodation provider, so to win this award was the icing on the cake! This is the first time the Resort has entered this category, so we were extremely proud to have won”.
The award of Major Tourist Attraction is highly contended each year. This win will reaffirm not only Rydges Capricorn Resorts’ status as an all round tourism operator, but it continues to acknowledge the Capricorn Coast’s position as a quality tourist destination!
To be eligible to enter the category of Major Tourist Attraction, the Resort had to meet the criteria of being an attraction which markets primarily to a national and international audience and is considered a hallmark destination in their own right.
Rydges was not the only winner from the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast, other successful applicants included, Keppel Bay Marina (Tourism & Restaurant Catering), The Horse and Carriage (Cultural & Heritage Tourist Attraction), and Capricorn Tourism (Tourism Product Marketing).
